Bellator fighter Chael Sonnen is a supporter of U.S President Donald Trump but thinks comedian Kathy Griffin should be forgiven for her recent actions.
Griffin lost her job at CNN because of a photo she posted with her beheading the president. In the photo, Griffin is holding a head that is completely covered in blood and appears to be Trump.
“I’m a big Trump supporter on a personal level. That’s going to make some people mad and some people happy, but let’s set that aside,” Sonnen told TMZ.
“I tried to make a case for Kathy. I watched that over and over and tried to argue on her behalf, but I just couldn’t find it funny. A decapitated head! Covered in blood! Oh my goodness.”
Even though Sonnen didn’t find what she did to be entertaining, he believes people should begin to ease up on Griffin.
“You know what would be a really cool move? If he (Trump) came out and said I accept your apology,” Sonnen said.
“When someone apologizes, you accept their apology.”
Sonnen is scheduled to fight Wanderlei Silva in the main event of Bellator: NYC on June 24 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
