Confirmed: Derrick Lewis Gives Up on Retirement, Will Fight Again

UFC heavyweight Derrick “The Black Beast” Lewis is coming off of a recent loss to Mark “The Super Samoan” Hunt. The fighters squared off in the main event of last weekend’s UFC Fight Night 110 in Auckland, New Zealand.

In the fourth round, Mark Hunt put his opponent away with a TKO victory, taking Derrick Lewis off of his six fight winning streak.

Following the loss, Derrick Lewis announced that this may be his final appearance inside the octagon. Now, it would appear that he may be coming back after all.

UFC commentator Brian Stann was recently interviewed and he revealed that he has discussed the topic with Lewis and his coaches quite recently.

“Talked to him (Derrick Lewis) and his coaches at the airport, it really did not seem that he was done to me. It seems like he’s going to take a nice break. He’s pretty darn busy. Going to go get married, go chill out a little bit, heal up a little bit from that tough Mark Hunt fight and come back.” He said.
