Ido Portal, one of UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor’s coaches, shared a video of McGregor training his movement on Wednesday.
McGregor is currently training to make his professional boxing debut. He will fight boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather in a 12-round bout that will be contested at 154 pounds.
Portal specializes in movement training. In his training video, you can watch Portal throw small balls at McGregor while the UFC champion punches each one as it comes near him.
Portal’s training techniques have been criticized in the past. During the lead up to McGregor’s fight with Nate Diaz, the popular Stockton native mocked Portal’s training methods.
“You’re playing touch-butt with that dork in the park,” Diaz said about McGregor training with Portal.
After almost two years away from the sport, Mayweather is ending his retirement to fight McGregor. He is putting his perfect 49-0 record on the line against the UFC champion.
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
