UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier showed nothing but class after learning former champion Jon Jones’ mother had passed away.
On Tuesday, it was announced Jones’ mother, Camille, had passed due to complications from diabetes. Jones’ brother Arthur, who plays in the NFL, announced their mother’s death on his Instagram page.
“In our community the mother is the backbone. Jon, Arthur, chandler and mr. jones I am sorry for ur loss. RIP Mrs Camille. Prayers,” Cormier said in a tweet directed to Jones.
Jones’ mother is survived by her husband and three sons, Arthur, Jon, and Chandler, who also plays in the NFL. She is preceded in death by her daughter who tragically passed away back in 2002.
Jones is known for having a loving relationship with his mother. His mother was in attendance for many of his UFC fights. Jones’ mother was blind and would touch her son’s face after each fight to make sure he wasn’t hurt.
Cormier is scheduled to defend his UFC title against Jones in the main event of UFC 214 on July 29 in Anaheim, California.
