Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino’s next fight will be for the UFC women’s featherweight title.
Joe Carr, senior vice president of the UFC, talked to Combate about Justino’s next UFC fight.
“Cyborg’s next fight will be the featherweight title,” Carr said.
Carr went on to say her next fight will either be against UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Germaine de Randamie or it will be against someone else for an interim title.
On Thursday, UFC President Dana White confirmed “Cyborg” will be fighting July 29 at UFC 214, but he has yet to schedule an official opponent.
De Randamie has come out and said she refuses to defend her title against Justino because of her history with performance-enhancing drugs. She also said she would rather be stripped of the title than have to defend it against Justino.
“I do not know much for sure, I have been following the news, I have been traveling a lot since Stockholm, but it seems that she is focused on returning to the low category. If this is indeed the case, she will have to surrender the belt,” Carr said. “I do not know what she has in mind, the UFC will talk to her manager to find out what she wants, but if she really does, the belt will stay open.”
