UFC featherweight contender Cub Swanson made a strong case for why he should get a title opportunity instead of fellow contender Frankie Edgar.
“Because when you lose 4 straight title fights. It’s ridiculous to think you get a 5th,” Swanson said referring to Edgar on Twitter.
Both Swanson and Edgar have been clamoring for a title fight against UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway.
Swanson does have a point when it comes to Edgar’s track record in title fights. In 2012, he lost his UFC Lightweight Championship against Benson Henderson. He lost a rematch to Henderson later that year. In 2014, Edgar lost a title fight to former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo. Last July, he lost an interim title fight to Aldo.
However, Swanson does not have a good track record against both Edgar and Holloway. He has been submitted by both fighters.
Swanson is on a four-fight win streak in the UFC. His win streak includes victories over Hacran Dias, Tatsuya Kawajiri, Doo Ho Choi, and Artem Lobov.
Edgar is coming off a TKO win over featherweight prospect Yair Rodriguez.
