Jacob “Stitch” Duran is one of the most recognizable cutmen in all of combat sports.
Two years ago, when the UFC fired Duran, both fans and fighters were upset with the UFC’s decision.
The UFC fired Duran because he was one of the first people to publically speak out against the UFC’s exclusive sponsorship deal with Reebok. When the UFC made their deal with the clothing brand, Duran, just like the fighters, was no longer allowed to have sponsors. Duran claims he actually made more money from sponsors than he did the UFC.
Duran recently talked to the Mayweather Boxing Chanel and discussed being let go by the UFC. He criticized UFC President Dana White for not firing him himself. Instead, Marc Ratner, UFC vice president of regulatory affairs, was forced to fire the beloved cutman.
“Ok Marc, you do me a favor and tell Dana he ain’t got no balls and should have called me personally,” Duran told Ratner after being fired.
