UFC President Dana White believes former UFC Middleweight Champion Chris Weidman could have stopped the brawl between Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino and Angela Magana last month.
At the UFC Athlete Retreat, in Las Vegas, Justino assaulted Magana because of some insulting posts on social media. “Cyborg” punched Magana because she had posted a photo mocking her appearance.
White recently appeared on the UFC Unfiltered podcast and talked about the altercation.
“This is the real world,” White said. “When you’re in that Octagon, almost anything goes. When you’re on a retreat, nothing goes. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with her rolling up on her, and hey, by the way, it was great to see your boy Weidman. I want to thank Chris Weidman for getting up in there right when we needed him. Weidman comes in, Cyborg looks at him and says, ‘Don’t you touch me,’ Weidman put his hands up like she had a (expletive) gun. Weidman could’ve stopped the whole thing. Yeah, thanks Chris, thanks for stopping that for us we appreciate it.”
Weidman tried to do the noble thing and stop the women from fighting, but the former UFC champion was too intimidated by “Cyborg”.
Despite Justino assaulting another fighter outside of the cage, White later said Justino will compete at UFC 214 on July 29.
