UFC President Dana White has been speaking to media lately celebrating getting a deal done between UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor and Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
Both fighters have agreed to a deal to fight each other in a boxing match on Aug. 26. The two will compete at 154 pounds in a 12-round fight.
Recently, boxing legend Oscar De La Hoya has publically spoken out about not allowing this fight to happen because it tarnishes the sport of boxing.
McGregor has never fought in a professional boxing match, while Mayweather is undefeated with 49 wins.
“You’re going to go out and tell someone not to buy some else’s fight. It’s crazy. GGG and Canelo will fight in September, and it’s a great fight. It’s a great fight. I’m going to watch that fight. I am a fight fan, and when you’re a fight fan, you want to see great fights,” White said on a recent episode of UFC Tonight.
“Oscar De La Hoya is out of his mind to come out and tell people not to buy a fight. Seriously, what the hell is wrong with this guy.”
