UFC welterweight contender Demian Maia claims rumors of him being injured are false.
On Wednesday, sources close to UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodly had said the UFC champion had been offered a fight against Jorge Masvidal due to Maia suffering from an injury.
The report stated that the UFC was attempting to book a fight between Woodley and Masvidal for UFC 215 on Aug. 19.
“Have been reading a lot of crazy rumors today. To make it clear: I’m not injured, have no serious injury whatsoever and didn’t tell UFC that,” Maia said in a tweet on Wednesday.
Maia was promised a title opportunity by the UFC following his latest win. Last month, at UFC 211, Maia earned a split decision victory over Masvidal.
Overall, Maia is currently on a seven-fight win streak in the UFC welterweight division. He has picked up notable wins over Neil Magny, Gunnar Nelson, Matt Brown, and former interim champion Carlos Condit.
