Former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes has been airlifted to a nearby hospital facility after being involved in an accident.
UFC President Dana White told ESPN that Hughes was driving in a truck which got struck by a moving train.
“Apparently he has head trauma,” White said. “His family is traveling to him now.”
White was planning on traveling to Paris for business with the UFC however, he may now cancel the trip due to Hughes’ accident.
White also shared a photo of Hughes on his Instagram page showing that he is praying for the former UFC champion.
Hughes current condition is still unknown at this time.
Hughes is a two-time UFC welterweight champion. He managed to defend his title on a combined nine separate occasions. Hughes is a member of the UFC Hall of Fame.
