Boxing legend and promoter Oscar De La Hoya is not happy about the boxing match between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
Before the boxing match was made official, De La Hoya had publically shown his disdain for the matchup. He even posted a long rant on Facebook about why the fight hurt the integrity of the sport of boxing.
Since the fight has been announced, De La Hoya has insulted the fight during any interview he has done. Most recently, he talked to ESPN’s SportsCenter and said UFC President Dana White was disrespectful to the sport of boxing.
In the tweet below, you can see a summary of De La Hoya’s interviews regarding the upcoming fight between Mayweather and McGregor.
The main reason De La Hoya is upset with the fight is because he is promoting a major boxing fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin. This fight is scheduled to take place Sept. 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
After De La Hoya announced the highly anticipated boxing match, Mayweather vs. McGregor was made official and is taking place three weeks earlier, on Aug. 26, at the same venue.
