Heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko appears to have fallen asleep during Thursday’s press conference for Bellator: NYC.
On Saturday, Emelianenko will make his Bellator MMA debut in the co-main event of Bellator: NYC. He will fight heavyweight contender Matt Mitrione.
The event is being headlined by longtime rivals Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva. During the press conference, much of the attention from the media was given to Sonnen and Silva, which may have led to Emelianenko getting sleepy.
Emelianenko was scheduled to make his Bellator debut back in January against Mitrione. However, just hours before the fight, Mitrione was forced to withdraw due to a kidney stone.
Emelianenko has not fought in the U.S since 2011. On that night, he was defeated by MMA legend Dan Henderson at a Strikeforce event.
Since then, Emelianenko has been unbeaten. He is currently on a five-fight win streak.
Bellator: NYC will take place June 24 at the historic Madison Square Garden in New York City.
