Fedor Emelianenko Will Not Retire, Calls For Matt Mitrione Rematch

Mixed martial arts legend Fedor “The Last Emperor” Emelianenko made his Bellator MMA debut over the weekend, but met a bitter end to former UFC competitor Matt Mitrione.

Bellator 180 went down on Saturday night, June 24, inside Madison Square Garden in New York. In the night’s main event, “The Last Emperor” faced off against Matt Mitrione. However, Mitrione earned a swift victory over his opponent, getting a TKO finish within the very first round.

Following the performance, Fedor Emelianenko provided his thoughts on what is next for him. In the post-fight press conference, Emelianenko explained that he will not be retiring.

As transcribed by Bloody Elbow, Emelianenko was asked if he plans to continue his MMA career.

“Yes, because I am a fighter.” He said.

As far as what is next for the MMA legend, Emelianenko explained that he would like a rematch with Mitrione. “I would love to have the rematch with Matt Mitrione. It happened so that the movements were just mutual ones, and certainly Matt used the situation.”
