On Friday, UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson shared a screenshot of a private conversation he had with fellow lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov.
In the conversation, Ferguson sent Nurmagomdov and image that suggest the two will fight for an interim UFC lightweight title in October at UFC 216.
“Still My (Expletive) #TeamTiramasu,” Ferguson sent Nurmagomedov in a private message on Instagram.
“I will (expletive) you (expletive),” Nurmagomedov responded. “Keep talking see you soon.”
Ferguson and Nurmagomedov were scheduled to fight for an interim UFC lightweight title back in March at UFC 209. However, just hours before the fighters were set to weigh-in for their fight, Nurmagomedov was sent to the hospital due to issues with his weight cut. This resulted in the fight being canceled.
UFC President Dana White recently revealed that UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor wants to fight Nurmagomedov after he makes his boxing debut against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
White also said that Nurmagomedov may fight Ferguson before then in order to determine a number one contender.
A fight in October to crown an interim lightweight champion would work out for this timeframe. UFC 216 is scheduled to take place Oct. 7 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
