It was recently revealed that the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is planning to strip UFC featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie “The Iron Lady” of her title, as the fighter wishes to move back to her native weight class.
Now, UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson has gone to social media to provide a piece of regulation concerning the mixed martial arts division. It would appear that the regulation may relate to the UFC lightweight champion.
In a tweet, Tony Ferguson shared the quote “UFC maintains that any champion is expected to accept fights against the top contenders in their respective weight classes in order to maintain the integrity of the sport.”
UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor has not competed in the UFC since his defeat over former champion Eddie Alvarez. Now, the champion is setting out to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. inside a boxing ring. The two face off on Aug. 26 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
