On Saturday, Chael Sonnen earned his first victory inside the Bellator MMA cage.
At Bellator: NYC, Sonnen defeated his longtime rival Wanderlei Silva.
The two bitter rivals fought in a back-and-forth battle that saw Sonnen walk away with a unanimous decision victory from the judges.
Sonnen’s superior wrestling skills were just too much for Silva to handle. Sonnen took Silva down at the start of the fight, and the majority of the fight was contested with Silva on his back.
However, Silva did have some shining moments. He managed to knock down and rock Sonnen on a few occassions while the two were on their feet.
All of the MMA world had their eyes on Bellator MMA on Saturday night, and many fighters were not afraid to share their thoughts on Twitter.
My first time hearing the Brazilian national anthem. I like it. #BellatorNYC
