Floyd “Money” Mayweather has only had one knockout win in the past decade and it came from a dirty punch.
In Sept. 2011, Mayweather fought Victor Ortiz. He earned a knockout win following a controversial combination.
The referee had separated the fighters. When the fighters were once again able to compete, Cruz went to touch gloves and gave Mayweather a hug. When Ortiz went to step back in order to restart the fight, he ate a brutal left hand by Mayweather. After Ortiz was stunned, Mayweather landed a right hand that knocked Ortiz to the ground.
After two years of being retired, Mayweather is returning to the sport to compete against UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
Many boxing analysts have mentioned that Mayweather will need to worry about McGregor fighting dirty, but McGregor will need to watch out too.
Mayweather is definitely not a knockout artist, while knockouts are McGregor’s specialty. McGregor won both of this UFC championship by knocking out his opponent.
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Saturday, August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
