Former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre says he still plans on fighting UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping.
UFC President Dana White recently said St-Pierre would fight the winner of UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley vs. Demian Maia at UFC 214 on July 29.
White said he had talked to St-Pierre, but the former UFC champion claims the two never talked about his next fight.
St-Pierre talked to Ariel Helwani, of MMA Fighting, about who he wants to fight next.
“Spoke to Georges St-Pierre today. He told me his preference is to still fight Bisping next, contrary to reports recently,” Helwani said on Twitter.
“Also, He said he did not have a convo/meeting with Dana White recently to discuss his next fight. In short, his target is still (Bisping) next.”
St-Pierre has not fought in the UFC since 2013. It was announced earlier this year that St-Pierre would return to the sport and fight Bisping for the middleweight title. However, the UFC has since canceled that fight due to St-Pierre not being able to compete until the end of the year.
