It was recently revealed that UFC featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie will be stripped of her featherweight title. The fighter earned the belt in a battle with former UFC bantamweight champion Holly Holm. However, “The Iron Lady” recently revealed that she wishes to drop back down to her native weight class. As a result, the UFC has decided to offer the belt up in a match between Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino and Megan Anderson at UFC 214.
As the former Invicta FC featherweight champion and a fighter previously suspended for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs, many believe Germaine de Randamie is dodging “Cyborg” for her first title defense. Now, Holly Holm has come forward with her thoughts on the matter.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Holm explained that she believes some other fighters may feel the same way about not wanting to face “Cyborg.”
“I don’t think she is the only one that feels that way.” Holm said, “I can understand how people can feel that way, because Cyborg has been flagged for things. I think a lot of people are skeptical from the red flags that she has had. I really just try not to get too involved.”
