Former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie Alvarez may have predicted his own loss to Conor McGregor.
Last November, at UFC 205, Alvarez lost his UFC championship after being knocked out by McGregor.
In an interview leading up to the fight, Alvarez said all McGregor had was “a strong left hand.” He also said that he could easily avoid McGregor’s striking power.
However, it was a strong left hand from McGregor that led to Alvarez being finished by the then-featherweight champion.
After his win over Alvarez, McGregor focused on the preparation for the birth of his first son. He also campaigned for a boxing match against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
Now, his son has been born and it appears a fight with Mayweather will happen. McGregor has agreed to terms to make his professional boxing debut. The UFC is still trying to finalize a deal with Mayweather.
Since the loss at UFC 205, Alvarez fought Dustin Poirier to a no-contest in April at UFC 211. Alvarez accidentally landed multiple illegal knees to Poirier while he was grounded resulting in the fight being stopped.
