Jose Aldo Refutes Loss, Thinks Holloway Fight Stopped Early, Blames Big John For Losing His Belt

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose “Scarface” Aldo suffered a third round TKO loss to now reigning champion Max Holloway at last weekend’s UFC 212 main event. The former champion was looking to unify his title against the previously interim champion opponent. However, the night did not end in his favor.

Now, in a recent interview with Combate, Jose Aldo’s head coach André Pederneiras has shed some light on the situation.

“Aldo thought that Big John stopped the fight early, but I don’t see it that way. I’m sure that after he watches it again he will agree. I don’t see how he would recover in the fourth round, after taking so many punches to the head. Holloway would surely hunt him down after that.” Pederneiras said.

It’s a shocking revelation from the Brazilian camp, especially for anyone who actually saw the fight. The referee gave Jose Aldo several minutes of unanswered blows before waving off the action.
