Justin Buchholz, the head coach of Team Alpha Male, believes UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor has a chance of doing some damage against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
The dream boxing match between McGregor and Mayweather was made official last week. The two will compete in a 12-round boxing match that will be contested at 154 pounds. The fight will take place Saturday, August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Buchholz says McGregor’s conditioning will be one of his main keys to being successful in the fight.
“How are you going to beat Floyd in 12 rounds? Let us just bet on getting McGregor out of there in four rounds. He’s got 12 minutes,” Buchholz said. Twelve minutes of fighting, three to one work ratio. Let’s get maximum energy, efficient energy, maximum punch output, maximum power, as well as being defensive, and being able to absorb shots.”
Buchholz also says McGregor needs to fight dirty in the fight, but also stay within the rules.
“If you take the size of McGregor and you get him as physically powerful as you can for those 12 minutes, you unleash him on Floyd, you make sure he’s punching the whole time,” Buchholz said. “Make it nasty.”
