Justin Buchholz, the head coach of Team Alpha Male, has given an update on the status of Clay Guida leading up to his next fight.
Guida will make his return to the lightweight division on Sunday at a UFC Fight Night in Oklahoma City. He will is scheduled to fight Erik Koch, who at one time was expected to compete for the UFC featherweight title.
Buchholz talked about Guida while appearing on Stud Radio. He will be in Guida’s corner in Oklahoma City.
“Clay is looking good. Looks good, feels good, and he is ready to go,” Buchholz said.
“I’m impressed with Guida’s physicality right now. He’s back at 155 (pounds). This is his home. He’s powerful at 155. When he was competing at 145 his camp was making weight. Think about this, just worrying about making weight? Or just worried about fighting for fun because you love to fight and wrestle?”
Before leaving the lightweight division, Guida was one of the top contenders in the division. Guida has lightweight wins against former UFC lightweight champions Anthony Pettis and Rafael dos Anjos.
