Medeiros Finishes Silva In Controversial Fashion In UFC 212 PPV Opener

The UFC returned to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for one of the most highly anticipated fights of the year.

At UFC 212, UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway unified his title Interim UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway in the main event.

Before the main event took place, the UFC provided another night full of intriguing matchups.

The UFC 212 pay-per-view opened with an exciting welterweight battle between Erick Silva and Yancy Medeiros.

Both fighters traded at the start of the fight. Eventually, Medeiros landed a combination that dropped Silva, However, Silva kept his composure and got back to his feet. Silva became more aggressive as the round went on. Medeiros did not take his foot off the pedal. He continued to land strong kicks which produced damage. The round ended with Silva briefly knocked down Medeiros with a knee.

Silva continued to be aggressive to start the second round. Medeiros was not phased by Silva’s aggression. Medeiros landed a butal punch that dropped Silva. After landing a couple shots on the ground, the referee stopped the fight and awarded Medeiros the TKO win.
