UFC prospect “Platinum” Mike Perry is set to fight former title challenger Thiago Alves at UFC 215.
Despite Perry recently engaging in a heated Twitter battle against “Raging” Al Iaquinta, it appears the welterweight prospect has decided to fight an established name in his division.
Perry is coming off the biggest win of his MMA career. In April, he knocked out longtime welterweight contender Jake Ellenberger. Perry has an MMA record of 10-1. All of his wins have come by knockout or TKO.
Alves is coming off a decision win over fellow former title challenger Patrick Cote in April. This was Alves return to the welterweight division after a brief stint as a lightweight.
Alves is a longtime UFC veteran and has been competing in the organization since 2005. He has 14 wins in the UFC. He had notable victories over Jordan Mein, Chris Lytle, Josh Koscheck, and former UFC Welterweight Champion Matt Hughes.
The UFC has yet to officially announce UFC 215. However, the event is expected to take place Aug. 19 in Seattle, Washington. UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson is expected to headline the card.
