Former UFC champion Pat Militech has given an update on the condition of UFC Hall of Famer Matt Hughes.
On Friday, Hughes was taken to a hospital after the truck he was in was hit by a moving train.
As of Tuesday, Hughes is still in a coma but he is making progress. In an interview, which can be listened to above, Militech says Hughes is responding to having his feet tickled. He also said Hughes was breathing on his own, but the hospital later hooked him up to a ventilator as a precaution.
Militech also gave more details about the accident that took place. According to the conductor, the train was moving at 47 mph. The accident took place on a gravel round. According to Hughes’ brother Mark, Hughes tried to speed across the tracks to avoid having to wait for a long cole train, which are often miles long. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it across in time.
