Olympic Swimmer Michael Phelps To Race (In Real Life) A Great White Shark … This Is Really Happening

Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps has proven that he is the best in the world when it comes to competitive swimming.

Since Phelps has easily defeated most of the best swimmers in the world, the Olympic gold medalist has decided to test his skills against another species.

According to a press release from the Discovery Channel, Phelps will race a great white shark as a part of Shark Week on July 23.

“They are one of the fastest and most efficient predators on the planet: Sharks. He is our greatest champion to ever get in the water: Michael Phelps. 39 world records. 23 Olympic golds. But he has one competition left to win. An event so monumental no one has ever attempted it before. The world’s most decorated athlete takes on the ocean’s most efficient predator: Phelps V Shark – the race is on!”

In preparation for his big race, Phelps recently went cage diving with some sharks. He shared a photo of one of the sharks on his Instagram page.
