The Chesapeake Energy Arena was on its feet last night for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s most recent mixed martial arts event. UFC Fight Night 112 took place inside the arena in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Sunday night on June 25. However, the night’s main event has come under some controversy.
In the main event, UFC lightweights Kevin “The Motown Phenom” Lee and Michael Chiesa went toe-to-toe for a highly anticipated grudge match. However, the fight abruptly came to an end within the first round.
Once on the ground, Kevin Lee managed to take the back of his opponent and lock in a rear-naked choke attempt. However, the referee brought the fight to a halt before Michael Chiesa ever tapped to the submission attempt. The referee’s call to stop the fight has since come under controversy.
Referee Mario Yamasaki’s controversial fight ending call may be viewed below.
