On Saturday, UFC flyweight Ben Nguyen earned the biggest win of his UFC career when he submitted former title challenger Tim Elliott at a UFC Fight Night event in Auckland, New Zealand.
This pivotal flyweight fight began with Elliott shooting for a takedown, while Nguyen landed punches and kicks. Eventually, Elliott secured a takedown, but Nguyen managed to secure Elliott’s back. From there, Nguyen applied a rear-naked choke and submitted the former title challenger in the first round.
Nguyen managed to submit the man who was one of the toughest challenges for UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson. In December, Johnson successfully defended his title against Elliott by winning a decision. However, Elliott managed to win some of the rounds.
