On Saturday, Chael Sonnen earned his first victory inside the Bellator MMA cage when he defeated longtime rival Wanderlei Silva.
Sonnen fought Silva in a grudge match that headlined Bellator: NYC, Bellator’s second pay-per-view event in the promotion’s history.
Sonnen and Silva fought in a back-and-forth battle, but Sonnen’s superior wrestling skills were too much for Silva to handle.
Throughout the fight, Sonnen was able to take Silva to the ground with ease. The majority of the fight featured Sonnen throwing ground-and-pound to Silva.
However, while on their feet, Silva managed to knock down and rock Sonnen on a few different occasions.
At the end of the fight, all of the judges agreed Sonnen had earned a unanimous decision victory.
