On Saturday, Dan Hooker picked up one of the biggest wins of his MMA career when he knocked out Ross Pearson at a UFC Fight Night event in his hometown of Auckland, New Zealand.
Hooker and Pearson fought in a close battle for the first round of their fight. However, in round two, Hooker landed a devasting knee to Pearson’s face that knocked out the longtime UFC veteran.
This was Hooker’s first UFC fight in the lightweight division. With a brutal knockout win over Pearson, Hooker is already one of the top prospects in the 155-pound division.
Hooker is only the third fighter to knockout Pearson in the UFC. Pearson’s fight on Saturday was his 23rd UFC fight. The only other two UFC fighters to knockout Pearson are Cub Swanson and Al Iaquinta.
