Taekwondo’s First Armless Black Belt

Jessica Cox has managed to earn many accomplishments in her life despite being born with a rare birth defect.

Cox was born without any arms. Even though she was handicapped from birth, Cox still managed to accomplish things that many able-bodied people cannot.

At age 10, Cox began training in taekwondo. As time went on, she refused to compete with other people with disabilities and wanted to compete against women similar to her age and rank.

Eventually, Cox earned a black belt in taekwondo by the American Taekwondo Association. She is the first, and only, armless person to earn the achievement.

On top of being the first armless person to earn a black belt in taekwondo, Cox is also the first armless person to be a licensed airplane pilot.

In the video below, you can watch Cox compete in the sport of taekwondo.
