UFC 212 Results: Carlos Junior Wins Grappling War, Submits Spicely

The UFC returned to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for one of the most highly anticipated fights of the year.

At UFC 212, UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway unified his title Interim UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway in the main event.

Before the main event took place, the UFC provided another night full of intriguing matchups.

The prelims featured an interesting fight in the middleweight division as prospects Antonio Carlos Junior and Eric Spicely went to battle.

Junior was the aggressor at the start of the fight. Junior went for a low kick but was immediately taken down by Spicely. Junior went for a heel hook but Spicely got his leg in a figure four position. Both fighters landed punches on the ground while their legs were intertwined. The fighters made their way back to their feet in the final minute. Junior then landed a takedown and took Spicely’s back and attempted a rear-naked choke. Spicely managed to survive until the round ended.

Spicely landed a few clean punches to start the middle round. Spicely went for a takedown, but Junior stuffed it. Junior then secured top position. Spicely exploded and went for a leg lock, but Junior escaped. Junior then took his opponent’s back. Spicely briefly escaped, but Junior secured his back later on. Junior locked on a rear-naked choke and got the submission win.
