UFC 212 Results: Chagas Dominates In Brazil, Submits Wallhead In Round 2

The UFC returned to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for one of the most highly anticipated fights of the year.

At UFC 212, UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway unified his title Interim UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway in the main event.

Before the main event took place, the UFC provided another night full of intriguing matchups.

Welterweights went to battle on the early prelims as Luan Chagas fought Jim Wallhead.

Neither fighter was shy to get close to their opponent, but both also were hesitant to throw at the start of the fight. Chagas began landing heavy leg shots. Wallhead tried to retaliate with kicks and punches of his own. Wallhead was the more aggressive fighter, but Chagas landed the more clean blows. For the remainder of the round, Chagas stayed calm and chose his shot wisely, while Wallhead continued to show toughness and aggression.

Both fighters landed hard punches to start the middle round. Chagas continued to land kicks at will, but Wallhead would not back down. He ate every shot Chagas landed and threw some leather of his own. Chagas landed an eye poke which produced a lot of damage, but the fight continued. The rest of the round showed Wallhead continuing to be aggressive, but Chagas still landed the more significant shots. In the final seconds, Chagas knocked down Wallhead and finished the fight with a rear-naked choke.
