The UFC made its long-awaited return to Oklahoma City for a special Sunday edition of UFC Fight Night.
The event featured a combination of former champions, top contenders, and rising prospects.
Welterweights were given an opportunity to showcase their skills on the big stage as Tim Means fought Alex Garcia.
Garcia landed a hard left hook early in the fight. Garcia later rocked Means with a combination. Both fighters became hesitant to engage in the middle of the opening round. The round ended with both fighters throwing punches, but neither produced much damage.
Neither fighter had success with their striking early in the second round. Garcia later went for a takedown, but Mean stuffed the takedown attempt. For the remainder of the fight, neither Means or Garcia could figure out how to inflict much damage against their opponent.
Garcia shot for a takedown early in the final round, but couldn’t get Means to the mat. Garcia successfully landed a takedown later, but Means reversed the position on the ground and got back to his feet. For the remainder of the round, neither fighter could close the distance to land successful strikes. The fight ended with both men swinging, but neither landing.
Official Result:
Tim Means def. Alex Garcia by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
