UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt is known for being one of the most aggressive fighters in the UFC.
Last year, Garbrandt fought Thomas Almeida in a main event fight between two undefeated fighters.
Garbrandt went on to knockout Almeida and earned the biggest win of his UFC career at the time.
Once Garbrandt had finished Almeida, referee “Big” John McCarthy threw the Garbrandt across the cage.
McCarthy’s number one job in the cage is to keep fighters safe. When Almeida was in danger, McCarty threw Garbrandt off of his opponent. Since Garbrandt is only 135 pounds, McCarthy had no issue getting him away from his fallen opponent.
Garbrandt went on to defeat Takeya Mizugaki in his next fight and earned a shot at the UFC championship. In December, at UFC 207, Garbrandt won a decision against Dominick Cruz to win the UFC title.
Back injuries have halted Garbrandt’s first title defense. He was scheduled to defend his title against former champion TJ Dillashaw in July, but his injured back forced him to withdraw.
