UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping is not happy with the comparisons between himself and former UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Germaine de Randamie.
De Randamie was recently stripped of her title because she refused to defend her championship against Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino.
Bisping gets compared to De Randamie because he hasn’t been scheduled to fight top contenders in the middleweight division.
Bisping’s first title defense was against Dan Henderson, who was not ranked in the top 10 of the division. He was then briefly scheduled to fight former UFC champion Georges St-Pierre, who hasn’t fought in over three years, but the fight was canceled due to injuries.
Bisping talked about De Randamie during a recent episode of his podcast.
“I’ve got to be careful about what I say here because I know everybody’s gonna talk shit about me and say, ‘You’re a fucking pussy. You fucking defended against Dan Henderson. You’re avoiding number one contenders.’ That is not what’s happened, (expletive). The UFC offered me Dan Henderson, I took the fight and then I had knee surgery. Two knee surgeries in fact. I know people are gonna talk shit because it seems from the outside that I’m fucking avoiding Yoel, which isn’t the case at all. I had two knee surgeries, I’m back training now but I still couldn’t do a training camp. But I do see the parallels that people will draw on and call me a (expletive) hypocrite.”
