Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone believes he’s a better striker than former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler.
Cerrone will fight Lawler at UFC 214 on Saturday, July 29 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
On Thursday, during media day for UFC 214, Cerrone shared his thoughts about Lawler in an interview with Submission Radio.
“I think I’m a far better striker than he is, technically wise,” Cerrone said. “He’s the old school brawler, man. He hits hard. He’s the fighter that everyone wants to see, and we are going to meet in the middle and throw down, man. It’s going to be exciting.”
Cerrone and Lawler have been scheduled to fight multiple times in the past year.
In November, they were scheduled to fight but Lawler withdrew due to needing more time to recover from his knockout loss to UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley.
They were then scheduled to fight earlier this month at UFC 213, but an illness forced Cerrone to withdraw from the fight.
