Mixed martial artist welterweight Rory “Red King” MacDonald recently made the move out of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and into Bellator MMA. For the fighter’s Bellator MMA debut, MacDonald faced off against Paul Daley at Bellator 179.
Ultimately, MacDonald earned a second round rear-naked choke victory over his opponent. Now, it would appear that the fighter is interested in facing fellow former UFC competitor Chael Sonnen.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Sonnen explained the story of being called out by the “Red King.”
When both fighters were on an elevator together, Sonnen explained that he asked MacDonald who he would like to fight in the promotion. Among other names, the fighter called out Sonnen.
Now, Sonnen has noted that his “man code” has driven him to accept the challenge.
