Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight top contender Anthony “Rumble” Johnson called an unexpected end to his mixed martial arts career after being defeated by Daniel Cormier in their UFC 210 rematch. A few months after announcing his retirement, Anthony Johnson hinted to a possible MMA return.
On today’s edition of The MMA Hour, Johnson revealed that his contract with the UFC has supposedly been terminated.
“I’m out. The UFC sent my termination papers. They terminated my contract three days later.” Johnson stated.
However, it would appear that would Johnson said may have not been entirely accurate.
ESPN’s Brett Okamoto recently took to Twitter to state, “I’m told Anthony Johnson misspoke during an interview on MMA Hour today, he is not a free agent. Still under contract with the UFC.”
