Floyd Happy Conor McGregor Can Carry The Torch When He’s Gone

Despite all the trash talk, Floyd “Money” Mayweather recently said some positive things about UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.

On Tuesday, Mayweather and McGregor had their first press conference for their highly anticipated boxing match.

During the event, Mayweather and McGregor shared many insults back and forth, but later one, while talking to media Mayweather did say something nice about his upcoming opponent.

Mayweather said he is happy that McGregor can trash talk and promote himself at such a high level, just like he did in his early days of boxing.

“I’m glad someone else can carry the torch,” Mayweather said. “I did it for years. I probably did it for 15 or 16 years straight. The last five years, I’ve been more laid back because I’m a lot older. I look at things in a different way now.”

On Aug. 26, Mayweather is coming out of retirement to fight the UFC champion in a 12-round boxing match that will be contested at 154 pounds.
