Floyd “Money” Mayweather admits he has respect for UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
After being retired for almost two years, Mayweather is putting his perfect 49-0 record on the line against McGregor, who will be making his professional boxing debut.
“I respect him as a man. You have to respect him as a man first,” Mayweather said. “But as for his fight game, you have to earn my respect on fight night.”
Despite not having any professional boxing experience, McGregor is one of the best MMA fighters in the world today. He is one of the pound-for-pound best in the UFC and is the only fighter in history to hold two UFC titles at the same time.
Mayweather and McGregor will compete at 154 pounds. The fight will consist of 12-rounds.
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Saturday, August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
