UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor has come a long way in a short amount of time.

McGregor is currently training for the biggest fight of his career. Next month, McGregor will make his professional boxing debut against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

In 2014, McGregor did an interview with a morning talk show in his home country of Ireland.

McGregor talks about his journey to making it to the UFC, and how he started his career fighting on regional shows in Ireland in front of 50 people. He also talks about receiving his first UFC paycheck and opening his first bank account. Lastly, he talks about potential fights against Cole Miller and Diego Sanchez, neither of which ever came to fruition.

McGregor made his UFC debut in 2013. Just two years later, he was already fighting for championship gold in the featherweight division. Now, in 2017, he is the highest paid fighter in the UFC and is one of the pound-for-pound best in the world.
