Health Update: Amanda Nunes Pulled After Being Cleared by UFC

It would appear that tonight’s UFC 213 fight card is now short a main event.

UFC 213 is set to go down tonight, July 8, inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Initially, UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes was set to face off against former opponent and rising challenger Valentina Shevchenko for the night’s main event. However, the fight has since been pulled.

It was recently reported that Amanda Nunes has been hospitalized, putting an end to the night’s main event. However, it would now appear that the fighter was cleared to perform by the UFC.

Lance Pugmire recently took to Twitter to reveal that UFC president Dana White told him that Nunes was cleared to compete by their doctor.

“Told by @danawhite that ‘the doctor cleared her to fight…she said she doesn’t feel good. It is what it is. You can’t make anyone fight.'” Pugmire reported.

The reporter later stated, “Nevada commission’s Bob Bennett says @Amanda_Leoa had issues ‘beyond’ weakness from weight cut that led to her withdrawal.”
