Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has shared his views on the upcoming dream match between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
Next month, McGregor will make his professional boxing debut against Mayweather, who is currently undefeated with 49 wins.
Jones discussed the highly anticipated fight during an interview on FOX Sports 1.
“I think what makes this fight interesting is Conor McGregor’s punching power,” Jones said. “But at the same time, guys like Miguel Cotto, De La Hoya, and all these guys, have tremendous punching power. But what they have, that McGregor doesn’t, is the years of experience and tightness to back up that punching power.”
Jones went on to predict who he thinks will leave Las Vegas victorious when the two fight on Aug. 26.
“I’m really happy for McGregor to be in this position, but if I were a betting man, I’d imagine that you would have to decide on the side of greatness,” Jones said.
This Saturday, Jones will fight UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 214.
