McGregor Camp Denies K.O. Rumors, Claims Mistaken Identity

It appears claims of UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor getting knocked out in sparring may have been a case of mistaken identity.

Professional boxer Jessie Vargas was the first to claim McGregor had gotten knocked out during a recent sparring session.

In a recent video, Vargas claimed that McGregor had been knocked out by MMA fighter Brad Wheeler.

However, Irish news publication Independent.ie claims Vargas was mistaken, and in the video he saw he had mistaken McGregor for professional boxer Brandon Rios.

McGregor’s team also confirmed that neither Wheeler or Rios have ever sparred with the UFC champion.

McGregor is currently training to make his professional boxing debut. Next month, McGregor is scheduled to fight boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

After being retired for almost two years, Mayweather is returning to the sport to fight for the 50th time in his illustrious career.

Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
