UFC veteran Melvin Guillard got brutally knocked out earlier today in Australia.
Guillard fought in a middleweight title fight at Australian Fighting Championship 20 in Melbourne.
Guillard’s opponent was Israel Adesanya, who is undefeated in the sport of MMA.
Adesanya finished Guillard late in the first round. He swarmed the UFC veteran with strikes on the ground until the referee mercifully stepped in and stopped the fight.
Adesanya is a prospect to watch out for in the world of MMA. All nine of his wins have come by knockout or TKO.
Despite losing on Friday, Guillard already has another fight scheduled. Guillard is expected to fight Dequan Townsend in Detriot on Aug. 25.
Guillard is currently on a six-fight losing streak. He has not fought in the UFC since 2014. In his last fight, he lost a decision to Michael Johnson. Since leaving the UFC, Guillard has spent time in Bellator and World Series of Fighting.
