UFC 213 was an extreme disappointment when it comes to the number of pay-per-views sold.
Dave Meltzer, of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, reports the early estimated numbers for the UFC 213 pay-per-view event are only around 130,000.
This makes UFC 213 the lowest bought pay-per-view of the year. This number is even more disappointing when you consider it took place during UFC International Fight Week, which usually brings in really strong numbers.
Last years UFC 200 produced over 1 million buys. The prior year’s UFC 189 also brought in some of the largest numbers of the year. Even in 2015, when the UFC didn’t do well at all on pay-per-view, International Fight Week brought in their largest numbers of the year with UFC 175.
UFC 213 has the lowest pay-per-view buy rate for any UFC event since 2006, that was not headlined by UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson.
UFC 213 was headlined by an interim middleweight title fight between Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero. UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes was supposed to defend her title against Valentina Shevchenko in the main event, but just hours before the show, Nunes withdrew from the fight due to illness.
