The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosted one of the year’s most highly anticipated events over the weekend. UFC 214 went down last night, July 29, inside the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. In the night’s main event, former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones faced off against heated rival and reigning champion Daniel Cormier.
Jones earned a technical knockout victory over his opponent in the third round, granting the former champion his light heavyweight title once again.
Following his victory, Jon Jones issued a few kind words towards his opponent. “I want to take this time to thank Daniel Cormier for being my biggest rival and motivator. He has absolutely no reason to hang his head. He has been a model champion, a model husband, a model father, teammate and leader. I aspire to be much more like that man. He is a true champion for the rest of his life.” Jones said.
